FIFA 18 is coming to Nintendo Switch to give us the most immersive, on-the-go gaming experience we have ever seen. Thanks to the extreme portability of the Switch, you can enjoy a football frenzy wherever you are, with the producer for EA Sports describing it as “the most portable version of the game ever produced”. Unfortunately, story mode is not available on the Switch, as this requires the Frostbite engine, but there’s still plenty to do to keep you entertained for hours on end.
Since EA have custom built the game for Switch, they have been able to make it more fluid than the app, and still managed to keep the high-resolution imagery that makes the game feel more realistic. When plugged into a compatible TV you get a crystal clear 1080p 60fps gameplay, and when you’re playing on the handheld, you’ll be viewing a 720p 60fps screen instead.
To spice up the gameplay and add a completely new element, we are now being treated to a new feature that lets us make transfers in career mode, and introduces us to interactive negotiations. Sit face-to-face with managers and try your best to get the player of your dreams for the right price. Squad building challenges are here for you to get stuck into too, in both online and offline versions. Plus, you still get all the fun of the usual career mode gameplay. FIFA Ultimate Team gives you the opportunity to send one of their all-time favourite players onto the field, with the 1970s Brazilian legend Pelé being the top rated 98 card available. Each of the player cards reflect a different stage of the athlete’s career – the beginning, their prime and their end.
With the Nintendo Switch you are offered a variety of different ways to play, whether you are at home in your pyjamas or on the bus into work. The advanced rendering technology delivers the most innovative portable FIFA game ever, with brand new pitch and stadium environments, new gameplay mechanics and realistic character likeness, all designed for Switch.
